2010 – Nova Scotia
The patients of Dr David MacNeil in Bedford, Nova Scotia consider themselves to be very fortunate to have him as their family doctor. They consider Dr MacNeil to be an exceptional family physician who provides an ideal balance of professionalism and personable style.
David graduated from medical school at Dalhousie University in 1986. He began his medical career in Amherst, Nova Scotia before settling in Bedford and establishing a large full-time family practice in 1993. He is also a member of a physician team that shares on-call duties between Bedford and Fall River.
Previously affiliated with Amherst Highland View Regional Hospital and Cobequid Multi Service Centre, David spent two years as Director of Nursery Care and contributed to ER and ICU coverage as a surgical assistant.
A portion of David’s work focuses on providing care to the geriatric population in his community. As part of the VON Palliative Care program he makes regular home visits and is known to go out of his way for his patients, taking emergency calls day or night. Through his direct committee involvement, David also explores methods of managing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease within Nova Scotia.
Known for his dry sense of humour and easy-going nature, David is allergic to Aspirin and paper work. He enjoys trips to the family cottage as well as yoga, bicycling and gardening. Together with his wife Nancy, who works as a family practice nurse in his office, they enjoy time with their three beautiful children, Joe, Jackie, and Sarah.
