2007 – Newfoundland and Labrador

Pat enjoys the rewards of providing a full range of family medicine services. He co-founded the Newfoundland Drive Family Practice, providing comprehensive care to more than 14,000 patients. A beacon in innovation, the practice has become a pilot for chronic disease management and collaborative care with a community pharmacist.

Office care is paired with Pat’s expertise in minor surgical procedures as well as obstetrical care – having delivered over 1800 babies – and palliative care. He makes about 25 house calls per week and is a staff member of two nursing homes.

In 1991 Pat initiated a practice preceptorship for family medicine residents. He enjoys teaching, working with medical students and being involved with numerous medical committees.

Pat is married to Madonna Tracey and their adult children are Kevin, Brian and Mary. Pat enjoys hiking, travelling, gardening, softball and being involved in his local parish.

“I have always tried to treat each patient as if he/she were my mother or father, my grandmother or grandfather, my brother or sister, my wife or my children. I treat them the same way I would like those close to me to be treated.”
